    • Points

      • Drivers may receive points on their driving record, which can increase insurance rates.

      • If texting and driving causes serious injury or death, the driver could face up to one year in jail. 

    • Criminal record

      • Texting and driving is a misdemeanor, which means a conviction creates a criminal record. 

    • License suspension or revocation

      • In some cases, a driver's license may be suspended or revoked.
